Here are some tech gadgets that will make your trip a lot easier.

1. Solar-Powered Inflatable Light - $20 - If you’re looking for a smart and sustainable source of light for your next adventure, look no further than LuminAID. After 6-7 hours of charging in the sun, this innovative inflatable lamp produces up to 16 hours of LED light. Not to mention it’s portable, waterproof, and weighs around 56 grams.

2. Apple World Travel Adapter Kit - $39 – If you’re bringing a Macbook, iPad, iPhone, or iPod on your trip, this kit makes it super easy to simply plug your charger into the wall outlet. All of the chargers from Apple are rated from 100-240V, so you just need the right plug face.

3. External Batteries – Your devices are great until they run out of juice. Unfortunately, when traveling abroad, there’s not always an easy place to charge up. Here’s where external batteries come into play. Here are some suggestions: Mophie & Zaggsparq.

4. Water Purifier – Price Varies - Most of travelers’ health problems are caused by contaminated drinking water, which means a water purification system is a must when traveling abroad. This is especially useful when venturing in remote locations with harsh environmental conditions, but destinations such as the Middle East, Central America, Asia or Africa are also known for their unsafe tap water. Fortunately, these days there are many products designed to help in such circumstances. CamelBak All Clear, for instance, is a state-of-the-art device capable of transforming almost any tap or clear natural water source into pure drinking water in just 60 seconds. The 0.75-liter water purifier bottle is equipped with rechargeable lithium ion batteries and uses UV light to neutralize viruses and bacteria. Overall, this is an excellent way to save money on bottled water and get safe drinking water while on the go.

5. Label Maker - $19 - I know what you are thinking: a label maker? This little device transforms my travel preparation. I label all those little bottles to know the difference between hair conditioner and hand lotion. I label my luggage and all my smaller bags and electronics with my name. It's also useful for labeling objects in the language of the country you are visiting, to help you can remember a little vocabulary.

6. Portable Solar Charge – $60 - An easy, practical, and eco-friendly way to charge your mobile gadgets while traveling, the Port Solar Charger from Firebox attaches to any type of window, letting the sun rays fuel its 1000mAh rechargeable lithium battery. Mixing sleek, lightweight design with functionality, this solar top-up charger makes for an outstanding power outlet for your smartphone, camera, tablet, and other devices while away from a power source for extended periods.

7. Hi-Tech Foot Warmers - $75 - Foot warmers are known for making winter activities as comfortable and enjoyable as a day at the beach, but the innovative ThermaCELL Heated Insoles takes your feet comfort to the next level. Equipped with state-of-the-art thermal technology, these remote-controlled foot warmers will keep your feet warm and dry thanks to a thermostat-driven control system and a water-resistant fabric liner which protects them from moisture.

Back up your device before you leave, turn off data roaming if you don’t want to use your 3G, and have fun. Most importantly, be safe out there. Sure it’s your iPad, or any other piece of technology, and all of your hard work is there, but it's not worth risking any bodily harm to protect.
